Hello, My mother’s name is Beulah Donaldson. I was wondering if someone could identify the people in the photograph titled “Donaldson Family” Thanks, Ron Susag
Ron — I will see if I can find someone who can identify the people.
I believe the lady on the left in Rutland slide 015 is my great aunt Hannah Johnson Evenson. I’ve never seen this picture before, so I could be mistaken.
The movie “The Wreck of the Herperus” was released in 1927.
Thanks Marvin for your comment on the movie release date. We’re not sure what year the movie made it to Rutland but if we find out, we’ll make sure to correct the photo date.
Internet Movie Database lists the “Wreck of the Hesperus” as a Mighty Mouse movie released in 1944. Ron Susag
I checked Imdb again and ” Wreck of the Hesperus” was released again in 1948. I believe the theater was built just after the war. Ron Susag
Hi Ron, this is your aunty PJ …Stan just drove out from orange county to show me the Donaldson pic. I only know one person and that is my papa, on the top left. I think your mom wasn’t born yet. The lady next to papa was probably his first wife, Nettie Anderson. We’re going to look at the rest of the pics and we’ll let you know if we find any other family members.

Congratulations on this very nice site. After Bill quit the Rooster Crows I thought that was it. I found out when a relative in Norway wrote and asked me about a picture. Happy to be able to read all this good stuff again. Keep it up. Thanks much. Mavis Hoflen Wold
This is really cool, it is fun to see my grand parents [ Everett and Margaret Hart] in their prime!
Re pic #22, Just the Guys: In the back row, #10 might be Bud Bohn and #13 is Ed Evenson. In the front row, #11 is my dad, Earl Anderson.
In photo 024-jpg Joyce Helberg is the little girl on the left standing, Grandma Helberg is holding the two small babies, David Swanson is the tall boy on the right, Edna is the girl standing next to him with the bow in her hair.
Phyllis Sundlie!!!! I’m hoping that you are the same one that used to work at Sears in Mound, MN. Remember Sherry? I heard that you lived in Califonia (my daughter does too). I think of you often and remember the fun we had on Friday nites, since we were the ones who worked late. If you care to connect again my email is thepeacefulheart@yahoo.com. I’d love to catch up and see what you’ve done over the years. Take care.
The names of the “Rutland Girls” are
Mavis Miller, Olga Sundlie, Ila Jensen, Josie Breum, Annette Pearson, Betty Flados and Grace Picot.
Thanks Mavis. The information has been added to the photograph.
The man loading the large block of ice is John Hoistad Sr. Really like your website! Thank you.
Ole Nelson is my great-great grandfather and I noticed his name on the Historic Section of the website. I was just wondering if I still have family in Rutland. I used to come to Rutland to visit my grandparents, Harold and Marie Nelson, my aunt, Claire Evans, and my cousins, Danny, Melissa, and Lorna Evans, when I was a child and have a lot of good memories. Would you know if there are still any people in Rutland from the Nelson family? If this is the wrong place to ask, can you tell me where to submit the question? Next time my mother comes over, I’ll have her look at some of the old pictures to see if she recognizes anyone.
In picture #20, front row, the ninth man is my uncle, Hjalmar Strand.
I’m reasonably sure that the people in picture #25 are Andrew Strand, his wife, their daughter, Ellen Strand Nundahl and her husband, Dellie Nundahl, with their daughter, Clarice.
Yes, the people in this picture are my grandparents, Dellie and Ellen Nundahl, and my mother, Clarice. It was such a surprise to see this picture. Thanks to Tom Strand for identifying them.
