Postponed Due to Weather….The Sargent Central school district will hold a second community input meeting on Thursday, February 26. A walk-through is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. with the main session starting at 7:00 p.m. in the school lunchroom. The meeting is an opportunity to learn about the major renovation needs of the 46-year old school building. The estimated costs of needed renovations is $3 to 3.5 million, requiring a school mill levy increase which will increase property taxes — a levy increase which will require a public vote.
Initial information from the school, presented at the first meeting in January, highlighted the primary need to replace the main school sewer lines and replace the ‘temporary’ modular units constructed in 1984. The modular units were to be a 15 year temporary measure and they do not meet present fire code.
Take the opportunity to attend the meeting, tour the facility, and hear first-hand from school officials and parents and residents who will be there to voice their opinions.
