Hal Nelson is expected to return to Rutland on Friday, August 28, 2009 between 5:30 & 6:00 p.m. Hal and his entire family will be walking into Rutland from the ball diamond. We need to line the street and cheer them on! Let’s make some noise, show support with signs, wear Vikings or Twins colors or a Hal Nelson Classic T-shirt and celebrate Hal’s Homecoming. He has been gone since last October when his home exploded and he spent several months in the Hennepin County Burn Unit in Minneapolis. We are hoping for some media exposure on this great return!
On Saturday, August 29, there will be a Hal Nelson Benefit/fundraiser including a free-will pork dinner, a silent and live auction and a raffle. The silent auction will be held from 4 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and includes many great items such as golf at The Springs, Medora Musical 2010 passes (2), Mary Kay baskets, fishing items, framed photos and prints (limited edition USPS collections – Giants, Baseball, Mickey Mouse) and more. The live auction will start at 7:00 p.m. for bidding on We Fest 2010 passes (2), handmade quilts, Terry Redlin collectibles, guns, fishing gear ($150 cooler full), Bret Favre (Green Bay) USPS framed print/stamps and more. There is also a raffle for a television and grill and other prizes. Don’t miss the fun and excitement to benefit Hal Nelson. The event is sponsored by the Rutland Park Board and Rutland residents.
