Present: Bert Siemieniewski, Deb Liermark, Joanne Harris, Carolyn Christensen, Renee Cramton, Kathy Brakke, Doris Hoistad, Deborah Banish, Vicky Haussler.
Treasurer’s Report: Bert presented the RCC financial report: Total assets – $29,986.24. Expenses prior month were: $215 for Hall kitchen painting and $360 for groceries for the Pinochle tournament. RCC received $500 contribution for the Pinochle tournament.
Joanne/Renee moved acceptance of the Treasurer’s Report. Motion carried.
Play: Deb reported there is a lot of work yet for the play which is scheduled for March 21. It has been difficult to get everyone involved together at the same time. Diane Smith and Pam Maloney are directing the play this year.
Deb asked about the price for the dinner and the play. There is no chair for Work Group 1 which has the responsibility for the play this year.
RCC members present agreed that the cost for the dinner and play should remain at $10.00 and the cost of the play only will be $5.00.
Kathy noted that the last week prior to the play is the crucial week. Deb said three cast members will not be available that week and would need to be replaced. There are ten characters in the program.
[Note: Due to several conflicts, the Director's rescheduled the play for Friday, April 3.]
Hall Renovations: Bert reported that the RCC Board and the RCC building committee met with the City Council yesterday. The consensus from that meeting was that all needs of the Hall – the furnace, shingles, insulation and improvements – should all be done at once. She contacted the USDA about grants and there is a 35% matching grant available. However, the City Council does not have funds for renovations. The question is how the payments would be made. There are handicap accessibility and energy grants available; the stimulus package may also have CDBG funds available. Towns under 5,000 population are not eligible for most CDBG funding grants; however, she will get additional information to clarify that.
Joanne asked what the yearly payment would be. Bert said the estimate for the total project is $130-140,000. A ten year payment with 35% paid through the USDA grant would result in an annual payment of approximately $7,000. RCC has received some donations; $50 came yesterday.
Carolyn suggested checking out the Hamburger Helper online grant process as a possibility.
Bert asked that all grant information and sources be given to her. She will work with the USDA to get their grant forms and applications completed.
Deb is getting an estimate from Marthinson for the Hall insulation and roofing.
Pinochle Tournament: Joanne suggested that the meal for the tournament could just be salad and scalloped potatoes; beans are not needed for the Pinochle tournament.
Bylaws: Hilary is still working on the bylaws. There are questions as to whether certain provisions are needed.
Website: Deborah said there has been a lot of use of the website and the monthly bandwidth has been reached. Fees and process for advertising rates and links on the site have not yet been established.
Events: The Rutland Fish Fry is Friday, March 6; cost is $10 and tickets are available.
Deb reported that the Fireman’s Easter Brunch will be April 12, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Uffda Day: Carolyn asked for suggestions for special events or things at Uffda Day this year. Decks of cards can be printed and made available for sale. She suggested maybe the men could do some woodworking or welding projects to get them more involved.
A Rutland walk or run event/marathon was suggested as an event.
Kathy suggested getting the men involved in doing a sod house. Carolyn said that is something the men could start and work on during the summer. Kathy said Jerry Sapa could do it; Carolyn said she will ask Paul Anderson to take the lead on a project.
Nominating Committee: Bert presented the names of Vicky Haussler and Shawna McKinney for officers for three-year terms on the Board. Joanne nominated Deborah Banish as a Board member. Continuing Board members will be Hilary Mehrer, Jeff Olson and Deb Liermark.
Renee/Joanne moved that nominations be ceased. Motion carried.
Ballots were cast and tabulated by Carolyn and Doris. The two new Board members will be Deborah Banish and Vicky Haussler.
Bert said the RCC mailbox number will remain the same to be used by the new Treasurer, once elected.
The Board will attempt to meet prior to the next meeting (April 7) to elect Officers.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
