Financial report: Bill Anderson/Smith moved acceptance of the Treasurer’s report as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Community Play: The group discussed the Rutland Community Club presentation of “The Gong Show” in March noting it was another successful event. One-hundred meals were served. The play made a profit of $516.29.
EnviroThon Team: The 2010 EnviroThon team (Jana Bopp, John Breker, Greg Breker, Bre’Ann Hanson, Shirin Nour) made a presentation on the National competition held in Asheville, North Carolina.
Easter Egg Hunt: Harris suggested the RCC contribute more funds toward the cost of prizes for the Easter Egg Hunt. It was also suggested that the Rutland Park Board and possibly the Sportsman’s Club be asked to contribute toward the costs for the event. The RCC received $35.00 contributions for the free-will snacks and coffee.
Brakke/Smith moved that the RCC pay for the two bicycles for the Easter Egg Hunt starting in 2011. Motion carried unanimously.
Brakke said the RCC should cover the bicycle costs from now on; the RCC can also do the free-will lunch for the event.
Hall Renovation: Pherson reported on the plans for the City Hall renovation. The proposed space would be the existing bathroom area and the office space. The City has stated that it would be more than happy to move the City Offices out of the area. If the restroom(s) is made accessible, then the entry must also be done to provide access to the building. The renovation is estimated at $125-150,000.
Wyum said the Hall would have a new front, it would be extended East and would be longer with a lesser inclined ramp. Pherson said there would be additional storage in the front entry area as well as a result of the remodeling.
Wyum said the Fire Department may also get an addition on the North which would include a meeting room, office area and restrooms. They are actively pursuing grants for that project. Wyum said the city council would make the final decision on the Hall renovations.
Bill Anderson/Bonnie Anderson moved that the RCC be formally on record in support of the proposed renovation and commit funds set aside when needed. The motion was put to vote and carried unanimously.
Wyum said some funds can be reduced if community members commit to help with demolition. An architect is needed and, due to State requirements, an engineer is also required on this project; grants are still being sought for the project.
Uffda Day: Pherson said there has been an initial planning meeting for Uffda Day, October 3, 2010. Proposals already include adding German food, having multiple locations for food such as Abelskievers, moving the parade to 1:00 p.m., holding a lefse rolling contest, bean bag tournament and more things. Carnival-type games will be planned, held indoors. The next planning meeting is April 27, 6:30 p.m., at Nordland.
Brakke asked if the supplies would be purchased through the store. Pherson said Lori will talk to Gretchen regarding costs. Bill Anderson said it is important to support our community and the store.
Operation Graduation: The Treasurer relayed a communication from the Operation Graduation chair requesting funding or donations for the annual event.
Brakke/Christianson moved that the RCC contribute $100 and ten Uffda T-shirts to Operation Graduation. Motion carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
