The 15th annual Rudy Anderson Pinochle Tournament, having begun in 1996, will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010. Sister Judie is responsible for the idea. She suggested doing something to honor our parents who loved pinochle plus we wanted to give something back to the special community who greatly nurtured us as we were growing up. The tournament gives 20% back to the community for improvements as it sees fit. To date this event has contributed in the thousands plus the sponsors purchase items as needed. Last year Rutland received five new card tables. Also, the community profits from the noon meal (extra income). This has become a very popular activity and there is a waiting list for people who wish to attend. Entrants come from Minneapolis and this year there will be entrants from Bismarck. The tournament is held for people who love to have fun. Last year’s first place included a local resident — Larry Christensen and his brother Donald from Gwinner. Learn to play pinochle and join us!!!!!!
