The Rutland Community Club met on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at 7 p.m. in Rutland City Hall.
Minutes: Mehrer/Leinen moved approval of the minutes of April 6, 2010 as read. Motion carried.
Financial Report: The Treasurer reported that there were no significant expenses or income during the past month. The existing balance of all accounts (checking, savings and Certificates of Deposit) total $37,226.52.
Anderson/Nelson moved acceptance of the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Motion carried.
Uffda Day: Pherson reported that planning is progressing on Uffda Day. The issue of grocery purchases through the General Store has been resolved. The planning committee meets the last Tuesday of each month, 6:30 p.m., at Nordland Lutheran Parish Hall. The proposed schedule includes the parade at 1 p.m., a Tug-O-War at 2:30 p.m. and a Band starting at 3 p.m. Lefse will be sold and/or demonstrated at the Senior Center. Other ideas are being considered.
Memorial Day: The American Legion and Women’s Auxiliary are planning the ceremonies and program. The RCC is in charge of the meal – scalloped potatoes and beverages. The meal is a pot luck.
City Hall Furnace: The City submitted the furnace installation bill totaling $15,030.56. the Horizons funding of $1,500 will be used toward the cost. The RCC voted to pay for the furnace installation cost last November.
Anderson/Mehrer moved that the RCC pay the $13,530.56 for the furnace. Motion carried.
City Hall Renovation: Pherson said the renovation plans are progressing. However, funding may be an issue. The renovation committee was not aware that nearly $14,000 of the funds allocated to City Hall were for the furnace – and not specifically the renovation project. Plans are to move the City Offices out of the existing space and possibly to the Fire Hall which is planned to have some renovation of its own.
The exact date of construction has not yet been determined.
Park Board: The Park Board is planning several improvement projects this year including the basketball courts, redoing the ballpark diamond, City Park improvements and upkeep and other projects. The Board is fundraising and will hold the two softball tournaments and also will do the food building at the Sargent County Fair in July. The Board may also do something at the August Ribfest (in Rutland). The Board is requesting some support from the RCC.
Anderson/Christensen moved that the RCC contribute $1,000 to the Rutland Park Board in 2010. Motion carried.
Community Clean Up Day: A community clean up day was proposed and various dates were considered by members present.
Christensen/Mehrer moved that the Rutland Community Clean Up Day be held Thursday, May 20th, 5-7 p.m. Motion carried.
